A Musical Reading
Close to Death – and Full of Life
with Lilien Caprez and Stefi Spinas

On this journey through words and sound, both artists dive—in their own way—into a world of “in-between tones,” creating a kaleidoscopic whole from them.

Author Lilien Caprez reads from her book NachtMeerFahrt, in which she recounts and reflects on her near-death experience. Her story describes a physical and emotional odyssey, shaped by a struggle to survive, and accompanied by the shedding of deeply ingrained, life-hostile beliefs passed down through generations.

At the threshold of the beyond, the door opens—from a long-held vision of a liberated life to a lived reality… A reality that, seen from the present back onto one’s own past, becomes newly definable and livable. A lifelong opportunity for anyone—if we dare to embrace the enticing and unfamiliar, and challenge the security of what is known and familiar.

Pianist Stefi Spinas performs works by F. Chopin, F. Mompou, Ph. Glass, F. Say, A. Khachaturian, G. Bizet, and others. Her music interweaves with the spoken word, merging text and sound into a vibrant whole. More than a reading, and more than a concert.

Afterwards, the two artists invite the audience to join a conversation, and the author will sign copies of her book.
