Ensemble Kandinsky featuring Andreas Janke – Violin, Thomas Grossenbacher – Cello, Fabio Di Càsola – Clarinet, and Benjamin Engeli – Piano

Ludwig van Beethoven (1770-1827): Quintet in E-flat major, Op. 16 for winds and piano, arranged for violin, cello, clarinet, and piano (by Benjamin Engeli)
Donato Lovreglio (1841-1907): Concert Fantasy on Themes from Verdi’s "La Traviata", Op. 45, for clarinet and piano
Walter Rabl (1873-1940): Clarinet Quartet in E-flat major, Op. 1

This concert program brings together works of finesse, expressive power, and melodic richness. It opens with Beethoven’s youthful quintet, originally composed for piano and four wind instruments. Often linked to Mozart in spirit, it presents a refreshing and lively side of Beethoven, far from the introspective depth of his later works.
Next comes Donato Lovreglio’s Concert Fantasy on themes from Verdi’s La Traviata, blending the brilliance of operatic splendor with virtuosic clarinet artistry.
The program concludes with Walter Rabl’s Clarinet Quartet—an impressive work of late Romanticism, full of colorful sonic textures and dedicated to Johannes Brahms.
