VIVALDI REVISITED reinterprets Vivaldi's opera arias: the Schnyder-Schulz-Taubitz trio combines classical music, jazz and theatre to create a surprising, contemporary world of sound.

After the CD and concert tours with the virtuoso programme "Handel in Harlem", the TRIO "Schnyder-Schulz-Taubitz" is now also devoting itself to Vivaldi's music.
This new programme, VIVALDI REVISITED, focuses primarily on arias from Vivaldi's operas and transforms them. The music is each based on a short story that explains the character of the pieces. Daniel Schnyder will briefly explain each work. The music meanders between theatre, drama, opera and concert music. The idea is by no means to interpret Vivaldi historically. Rather, Schnyder's aim is to reinvent Vivaldi's music in our time. This "revisiting" is one of Schnyder's specialities, as he reinterprets and transforms non-European and historical music in unexpected and surprising ways.

The two main instruments, soprano saxophone and bass trombone, had not yet been invented in Vivaldi's time. The great variety of sound of these instruments allows a stronger theatrical expression than the quieter and more tonally restricted instruments of the time.

Stefan Schulz, bass trombonist with the Berlin Philharmonic, is one of the outstanding virtuosos of his instrument. Numerous CDs and concerts as a soloist distinguish this top-class musician.

Daniel Schnyder is known worldwide as a composer, "musical thinker", improviser and instrumental virtuoso. His compositions are frequently performed in concert halls around the globe and at international instrumental competitions. He is also internationally recognised as a cross-genre virtuoso who combines composed and improvised music.

The exceptional Polish violinist Adam Taubitz was the youngest concertmaster in the history of the Swiss orchestra (Basel Radio Symphony Orchestra). Later he was also principal violin of the Berlin Philharmonic under Abbado. Adam is also an outstanding jazz violinist - a rare double talent, which he will also demonstrate in this programme.
