Book 'Lenk - Geschichten in alten Ansichten'

Book 'Lenk - Geschichten in alten Ansichten'

by Hans-Ueli Hählen

A piece of history

Everyday life in Lenk from bygone times shines through, you marvel at how the village has changed and what enormous developments have taken place in the Simmental since then. The project for the extensive picture book with over 600 images in the form of black and white photographs from around 1860 to the beginning of the 21st century as well as engravings and drawings from around 1850 or earlier should remain a lasting contemporary document for the people and guests of Lenk. A large proportion of the pictures are from the author's archive, but he was also provided with additional pictures by third parties. Many of the photographs were taken by the teacher and photographer Alfred Bigler (*1877), who came to Lenk as a young teacher in 1897 and lived and worked there until his death in 1960.
