Weaving a lanyard – An open workshop with Mara Danz

Instead of going shopping on Black Friday, why not spend GOOD Saturday creating a textile keepsake from fabric offcuts – as a key ring and lucky charm, or as a handmade Christmas present? For this workshop, fashion designer Mara Danz has rummaged through her textile archive and put together a selection of beautiful, colourful and quirky fabric offcuts. The fabrics – some of which are also used to make garments in DANZ’s collections and are available at Kaiserhaus – were mostly screen-printed at the Mitlödi textile printworks – Switzerland’s last industrial textile printing works, which ceased operations in 2024. The fabrics are remnants of the once-flourishing textile industry in the Glarus region and are available exclusively for this workshop.

With Silvan Zweifel’s step-by-step instructions and illustrations, weaving the fabrics together is a breeze. In no time at all, you’ll have created a truly unique set of key rings.

Mara Danz will be there in person to lead the workshop.
