When Saint Nicholas embarks on his pre-Christmas journey through Cologne, a special stop each year is the Excelsior Hotel Ernst. With a sack full of little texts and surprises, he brings smiles to children's faces and ensures an unforgettable afternoon. While the little ones enjoy Christmas pastries, hot chocolate, and delights from the children's buffet, they can revel in Saint Nicholas' heartfelt stories and gifts. As a memento of this special day, Saint Nicholas is happy to take a photo with each child.

In the meantime, all accompanying adults indulge in classics from our in-house patisserie: Clotted Cream, homemade jam and lemon curd, as well as savory and sweet accompaniments such as sandwiches with pickled salmon or cucumber and cream cheese. Mini cakes and tartlets are just waiting to sweeten your St. Nicholas Day.

For many years, the charming wordsmith Manfred Erwe has delighted our young guests in the role of Saint Nicholas. With his loving and sensitive manner, he wins the hearts of children in no time. Many also know the beloved actor and presenter from his incomparable presentations of the Rose Monday Parade from the Excelsior Tribune.
