The world is sound – and that’s by no means all

On 11 July 2025, Ephraim Salzmann performed with Stefanie Heinzmann here at the Fels. We were captivated by his extraordinary sounds. Now we’re bringing the Upper Valais musician and sound poet back – with his solo project ‘The World is Sound’.

For Ephraim, music is a translation of nature. Rhythm and sound conjure up images, tell stories of journeys and emotions, and create a musical world that needs hardly any words at all.

The musician from Naters expresses his keen sense of rhythm and sound through unusual and, in some cases, exotic instruments. Particularly close to his heart is the Valaisan hammered dulcimer, which his father, Amadé Salzmann, developed further together with Markus Tenisch in the Binntal valley. Ephraim blends this personal legacy with modern sounds and his very own musical language.

In his live performances, Ephraim invites you to immerse yourself in this world, listen and let yourself be surprised. Set directly against the rock face and in an intimate setting, this promises to be an intense experience full of instruments, rhythm and sound.

The meal will be served at long tables. Due to space constraints, we cannot guarantee tables for two or four.

Important information
The concert is a seated event and takes place outdoors at the prevailing outside temperature. The concert area is situated directly against the rock face and is sheltered from the rain.

You can also book the concert without the meal. No catering facilities are available for concert-goers who do not book the meal.
